You might want to take a seat while you read about the new Zinc Venture – because it's the first seated e-scooter to be launched in the UK.
The new release from the British micromobility brand is something of a cross between an e-scooter and a folding e-bike. It's similar to a bike in that there's a saddle to sit on rather than a footboard as you’d find on an e-scooter. But unlike a bike there are no pedals, with all the power provided by the 250W electric motor.

At present it is legal to buy an e-scooter in the UK, but against the law to use a privately owned machine on public roads. Chirag Shah, Zinc's chief operating officer, said the firm felt the machine "will prove popular with those that want to sit down, and when legislation does eventually allow, it will also benefit couriers and delivery drivers too."

The machine has a top speed of 15.5mph – in line with the anticipated regulations – while the machine has a range of around 15 miles. While Zinc has not given an exact battery size, it says that the unit can be charged in around four hours.
The Zinc Venture weighs 17.3kg and sits on large 14-inch air-filled tyres, while built-in shock absorbers are intended to smooth the ride. There are also double disc brakes, a multi-function LED display and front and rear lights.
The machine has a quick-folding mechanism so it can be shrunk down for storage or carrying.
The Zinc Venture is priced at £500, and is available to order from Argos or Zinc's website.
